Comparison: Hyundai Verna 2017 vs Honda City 2017

Recently two auto giants from Korea and Japan,
Hyundai Motors and Honda Cars respectively launched the facelift versions of
their best selling mid-sized sedans Verna and City in the Indian car
market. As both these cars in their erstwhile
versions were the heart throbs of car enthusiasts and were tough contenders in
the segment. Going through this cut throat competition both of them have
upgraded these cars with new contemporary features and believe to retain their
supremacy on their prospective aspirants.
The new avatars of both these cars have grabbed the
attention of car lovers especially the new buyers willing to buy any of them.
Their launches have put them in dilemma that which car they should now buy for
driving. Going through their concern we are making an attempt to find out the
major differences both these cars in terms of engine and other features.
Engine
Specification: Under the hood generation next Hyundai
Verna is offered with two engine options of 1.6 litre VTVT petrol engine and
1.6 litre CRDi diesel engine. The petrol engine is capable of generating the
power of 121 bhp and torque of 158Nm, whereas the diesel generates the power of
126 bhp and torque of 260Nm. the transmission duties are performed by both six
speed manual and six speed automatic transmission system.
On the other side Honda City 2017 comes with 1.5
litre iVTEC four cylinder petrol engine and 1.5 litre iDTEC four cylinder
diesel engine. The petrol variant boosts the power of 118 bhp and torque of
145Nm the diesel develops the power of 99 bhp and torque of 200Nm. The
transmission duties are however carried out by the same transmission duties as
offered in Hyundai Verna 2017.
Exterior
Features: When it comes to talking about the exterior looks,
undoubtedly the Honda City since its first generation had succeeded in stealing
the show and in its new avatar it continues the same charm. Moreover as it is
an upgraded version of the existing avatar it receives projector headlamps at
the front fascia and LED taillights at the rear portion. There is huge of
chrome elements at different places which are expected to fascinate the Indian
buyers to huge extent. With the body
colored bumpers along with fog lamps further enhance the exterior appearance of
the sedan.
Moving towards to Hyundai Verna 2017, it would not
be wrong to say that since its inception its exterior has been state of art
with sleek bonnet and aggressive character lines fascinating the commuters at
the first instance. Integration of new hexagonal grille now further enhances
the entire appearance of the exterior portion. The sixteen inch diamond alloy
wheels help in creating the muscular appearance of the sedan. Along with all
these features integration of chrome surrounded fog lamps and wrapped
taillights are some notable features which can grab the attention of people.
Interior
Features: It would be interested to know that taking the
lessons from first generation Verna, Korean car maker has tried to develop the
interiors with contemporary features. With spacious cabin and black dashboard
the interiors give an impression of sitting in some luxurious saloon. With this
the excessive use of chrome at different points further enhances the interior
appearance of Verna. The well developed dashboard, central console and three
spoke steering wheel help in giving interior the premium look. The utility
boxes like glove box and door pockets facilitate the passengers to keep
substantial stuffs easily in them. Other interior features offered in Verna are
rear air conditioner vents, sunroof, infotainment system are similar to Honda
City. One thing which you will not find in the interior of Honda City are
ventilated front seats, that are offered in Hyundai Verna.
Talking about the interior of Honda City, it would
not be wrong to say that in its new avatar the City is embellished with
lavishing features including designer dashboard, three spoke steering wheel
followed by premium quality upholstery. The adjustable well cushioned seats
offer comfort seating to the passengers. Other worth mentioning features
offered in the interior of Honda City are cruise control, rear air conditioner
vents, touchscreen infotainment system that supports connectivity with Wi-Fi,
navigation also acts as display for rear mounted camera.
Fuel
Efficiency: It is reported that Hyundai Verna 2017
will deliver the fuel efficient performance. The petrol variant with manual
gear transmission system delivers an average of 17.7 kmpl whereas automatic
transmission will deliver an average of 15.9 kmpl, whereas the diesel variant
with transmission duties is endorsed to deliver an average of 24.75 kmpl and
21.02 kmpl respectively.
The petrol variant of Honda City with manual
transmission delivers an average of 17.4 kmpl whereas CVT transmission delivers
an average of 18 kmpl. On the other side diesel variant of Honda City is
claimed to offer an average of 25 kmpl.
Safety
Features: On the safety front both the sedans are equipped
common features which include ABS+EBD, front airbags for driver and passenger,
engine immobilizer, anti-theft system as standard features. Whereas the top end
variants are equipped with six airbags.
Prediction: While comparing to the features offered in both these sedans it would not be wrong to say that both of them are close to each other and therefore both of them will never let their owners feel down.
